This story will seem bizzare, unbelievable and fake, but it’s true. A 33-year-old man from Ireland had been resorting to an unusual remedy to treat his back pain. He had been injecting semen in his body to treat his back pain.
This man injected himself with a dose of his own semen every month for a year and a half.
When he walked up to Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin with severe back pain and a swollen arm, the doctors there inquired about the problem.
The revelation of “alternative therapy”, however, baffled everyone there.
This was revealed in a case report published this month in the Irish Medical Journal.
“This is the first reported case of semen injection for use as a medical treatment,” the doctors wrote in the report they titled, “‘Semenly’ Harmless Back Pain: An Unusual Presentation of a Subcutaneous Abscess.”
The report said this man bought a hypodermic needle online and injected himself with a monthly dose of his semen for 18 months. This innovative method to treat the chronic back pain was being done without any medical device, and, therefore, this method did not appear to have worked.
The back pain in his lower body started after lifting a heavy steel object. This pain had been getting worse, the report said.
As per report, his right arm, in which he had injected the liquid multiple times, was red and swollen. An X-ray showed air trapped underneath, as semen had leaked into the soft tissues.
This man was given antimicrobial medicine during treatment at the hospital and his back showed signs of improvement, the report said.
