Detralex: instructions for use

Detraleks: instructions for use

With age, many people have problems with their legs. In particular, it concerns the condition of the veins. Such drugs as Detralex can successfully cure many diseases caused by circulatory disorders, especially in the lower extremities.

Description

The drug Detralex refers to the number of ventonizing and angiprotective drugs. This means that it helps to restore impaired functions of the veins, increase their tone and lower the permeability of the walls of blood vessels. Due to these properties, Detralex is successfully used in the treatment of diseases such as thrombophlebitis, varicose veins, hemorrhoids.

Detralex contains several natural flavonoid components. In total there are 5 varieties. The main component is diosmin. The ratio of diosmin to the other flavonoids is 10: 1.

These components have a toning effect on the veins. They reduce the venous stretchability, the permeability of the walls of blood vessels, improve drainage, increase the ability of capillaries to maintain integrity under mechanical action and reduce the likelihood of congestion.

Also, Detralex reduces the interaction between leukocytes and endothelium and reduces the adhesion of leukocytes. This reduces the negative effects of inflammatory mediators on the walls of blood vessels and venous valves. As a result, veins come to a normal state, or the development of varicose disease, in which there is increased leg fatigue and their swelling, stops.

Detralex is also used for hemorrhoids. This disease, associated with impaired tonus of the veins of the anus, gives patients no less trouble than varicose disease of the legs. True, with hemorrhoids, drug therapy should be combined with the use of rectal suppositories and creams, therapeutic diet.

However, in the treatment of leg vein diseases it is also necessary to use additional methods – wear special shoes that improve blood circulation in the legs, stockings, socks and pantyhose that massage the legs. It is also necessary to limit the exposure of direct sunlight to the surface of the skin with sore veins, to avoid severe physical overloads in which the legs would be very tense and tired. Employees with permanently sedentary work, such as in the office, should take regular breaks. You must also refrain from bad habits – smoking and drinking alcohol.

Often, varicose disease is accompanied by the presence of excess weight in a patient. Therefore, we should not neglect the diet, through which you can reduce the load on the legs.

In the advanced stage of the disease, cold compresses applied to the legs can help to improve circulation. Moderate exercise in the form of walking can also be of great benefit.

The main violin among all the substances of the drug is Diosmin. This substance is a semisynthetic flavonoid derived from hesperidin. By the way, speaking, hesperidin is found in large quantities in many citrus fruits. There are many studies proving that diosmin has a beneficial effect on venous tone. These studies were conducted using modern instrumental methods such as angiostereometry.

This effect is due, in particular, to the promotion of norepinephrine, due to which vasoconstriction occurs. This effect of diosmin was discovered in the 30s. last century. In principle, hesperidin has a similar effect, but the diosmin in this regard is several times stronger than it.

Preparations based on flavonoids have been used in European countries for the treatment of diseases of the veins for decades and have proven themselves in this regard.

Patient reviews for Detralex are mostly positive. Patients note the high efficacy of the drug. Healing doctors also speak well of the remedy. Many negative reviews are related to the fact that the price of the drug is quite high.

So, what are the properties of diosmin:

  • increases venous tone;
  • increases the elasticity and extensibility of blood vessels;
  • improves hemodynamic parameters;
  • has an antioxidant effect;
  • promotes lymph flow;
  • prevents the formation of free radicals;
  • stops the formation of inflammatory prostaglandins;
  • promotes the regeneration of the tissues of the venous membranes;
  • reduces the severity of damage to the venous valves.

Hesperidin and other flavonoid fractions present in the preparation have an auxiliary effect. In particular, they strengthen the capillaries and increase the tone of the walls of blood vessels.

In the production of tablets, the procedure of micro-ionization is applied, which increases the speed of their absorption.

Diosmin is broken down in the liver and is derived from it in the form of phenolic acids. The elimination half-life of the substance is 11 hours. The substance is mainly excreted from the body through the intestines, partly by the kidneys.

Detralex is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. It is distinguished by high bioavailability, exceeding the corresponding figure for analogues.

Indications for use

Detralex has a wide scope. Indications for use of the drug can be divided into several main groups. This is:

  • symptomatic treatment of chronic venous insufficiency;
  • preparation for surgical medical procedures for chronic venous insufficiency and recovery in the postoperative period;
  • symptomatic treatment of acute or chronic hemorrhoids;
  • recovery after surgery for hemorrhoids.

Detralex can be used both as an independent tool and as one of the elements of complex therapy. The advantages of the drug include the fact that it can be used for treatment at any age, including the elderly.

Research has shown that Detralex shows high efficacy in the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids and moderate efficacy in the treatment of lymphatic edema.

Varicose Disease

Chronic venous insufficiency or varicose leg disease is a group of symptoms caused by impaired blood flow in the veins of the lower extremities and a change in the permeability of the vascular walls. This disease is more common in women. It occurs when venous valves that prevent backflow of blood do not close due to an increase in pressure. As a result, the veins are stretched, which, in turn, leads to their increased permeability. Through the venous wall, blood proteins and blood plasma begin to flow into the surrounding tissues. This leads to swelling of the surrounding vein tissues. If at the same time small vessels are compressed, this in turn leads to ischemia and the formation of trophic ulcers.

The main factors causing venous insufficiency:

  • overweight;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • hereditary factors;
  • sedentary work or work with limited movement;
  • chronic constipation;
  • pregnancy, hormonal changes, use of hormonal drugs in women;
  • wearing tight underwear and clothes.

Chronic venous insufficiency is expressed by many symptoms, including:

  • feeling tired, heavy and stiff in the legs;
  • swelling of limbs;
  • pain in the legs, especially after walking;
  • sensitivity disorders;
  • seizures;
  • trophic changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue;
  • trophic ulcers.

There are several stages of varicose disease:

  • Stage I – morning leg tiredness, swelling in the evenings, disappearing in the morning;
  • Stage II – persistent swelling, pigmentation disorders, thickening and reddening of certain skin areas, itching, eczema;
  • Stage III – the appearance of difficult to treat trophic ulcers.

All stages of the disease are accompanied by pain of varying intensity, a feeling of crawling goosebumps, evening cramps, numbness of certain skin areas.

In the early stages of the disease, compression bandages, tights, socks and stockings are used as therapeutic agents. It is also possible to treat the disease with the help of physiotherapy.

Detralex can remove symptoms such as heaviness and pain in the legs, swelling, night cramps. Also, the drug reduces capillary fragility, has an impact on the resorption of difficult healing trophic ulcers,

Simultaneously with the use of Detralex, in case of varicose veins, veno-tonic creams and ointments can be used.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are called varicose veins of the anus or lower rectum. Enlarged veins form nodes (external, visible by visual inspection of the anus, or internal, located in the rectum). Acute hemorrhoids is a type of disease that causes complications, and chronic hemorrhoids are uneventful. Many factors contribute to the occurrence of hemorrhoids:

  • sedentary job;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • weight lifting;
  • long constipation;
  • pregnancy, childbirth;
  • inflammatory processes in the pelvic area;
  • wrong diet – eating large amounts of smoked, spicy and salty foods, alcohol abuse.

The disease is accompanied by itching and pain in the anus, bleeding, inflammation of the nodes.

When treating the disease, conservative methods are preferable: moderate exercise, diet, physiotherapy, and drug therapy. Creams and rectal suppositories can be used to relieve pain and inflammation, fighting infection.

The use of veno-tonic drugs such as Detralex is also of great importance. They can be used both in the chronic form of the disease, and in acute, including, in cases where a surgical operation is indicated – in the preparatory period and to reduce the risk of complications in the postoperative period.

Detralex is produced by the French pharmaceutical company Servier Laboratory, and is produced in Russia under license from the Serdiks company. Available over the counter in pharmacies.

The price of Detralex varies depending on the dosage and the number of tablets per pack. The average price per pack of 30 tablets of Detralex 0.5 g is 700 r, and the price per pack of 60 tablets at a dosage of 1 g is 2500 p. The shelf life of the drug is 4 years, it must be kept out of the reach of children.

Analogs

On the market you can find a lot of drugs – generics, as well as drugs that contain one of the active substances. They all differ in price and, in some cases, in composition.

The complete analogs of Detralex are Venarus and Venozol of Russian origin. Venozol also has such dosage forms as cream and gel. The composition of these drugs also include diosmin and hesperidin. The price for Venarus is 500-1500 r, depending on the dosage. The price of Venozol cream is available for any category of patients – about 150 p.

Such analogues as Phlebodia (France) and Wacozette (Germany) have only one active ingredient in their composition – diosmin. The dosage of one tablet of these drugs is 600 mg.

Ginkor Fort, Troxevazin, Troxerutin and Antistax are also analogues of the drug. They have the same purpose as Detraleks – angioprotective and venotonic, however, they contain completely different active substances.

Contraindications

The drug has some contraindications. First of all, it is intolerance to the components of the drug. Also, the drug should not be taken in childhood (up to 18 years).

It is not recommended to use Detralex with open trophic ulcers, bleeding disorders.

It is not recommended to combine treatment with Detralex with the use of alcohol, since the latter reduces the effectiveness of therapy. Also, while taking alcohol at the same time increases the likelihood of side effects.

Use of Detralex during pregnancy and lactation

When pregnancy is necessary to consult a doctor before using the drug. Animal studies have not shown any negative effects of the drug on the developing fetus.

In practice, Detralex is often used during pregnancy to treat hemorrhoids when surgeries are contraindicated. It is necessary to take into account, in pregnant women, the risk of hemorrhoids increases about 5 times.

When breastfeeding, the use of Detralex is not recommended, as there is no evidence that it does not penetrate into breast milk.

Side Effects

Side effects are also few. There may be unpleasant effects in the gastrointestinal tract – nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, abdominal pain. Also possible are blood pressure spikes, headaches, dizziness, and general malaise. Skin allergic reactions – rash, urticaria are not excluded. Extremely rarely, angioedema can occur.

Detralex does not affect the reaction rate, so it is quite possible that it will be used by those who drive vehicles or complex mechanisms.

To date, there is no data on the negative interaction of Detralex with other drugs.

With an overdose, severe side effects are possible. Treatment of symptomatic overdose – intake of enterosorbents, gastric lavage.

Detralex, instructions for use

The optimum ratio of effect and dose is provided at a dosage of 1 g of the active substance during the day.

For diseases of the veins of the legs, the usual dose is 2 tablets of 500 mg per day. In some cases, 2 tablets may be administered twice a day for the first week. Usually tablets are taken with food, in the morning and in the evening. Tablets must be swallowed without chewing. The course of treatment is prescribed by a doctor, but, as a rule, it lasts at least a month. The maximum course duration is 1 year.

If, after discontinuation of Detralex, symptoms of the disease reappear, the doctor may prescribe an additional course.

For acute hemorrhoids, pills are taken no more than one week. However, the dosage of the drug in this case is greater. You must take 6 tablets per day – 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening. This scheme should be followed the first 4 days of admission. In the remaining 3 days, the dosage is less – 2 tablets in the morning and evening. If necessary, extend the course of treatment requires a doctor’s permission. However, this is usually not required, because after a few days the effect becomes noticeable.

In chronic hemorrhoids, this scheme is usually followed – two tablets twice a day for a week, then the dose is reduced to 2 tablets per day in a single dose. The duration of the course may be 2-3 months.

After surgery for hemorrhoids, Detralex is taken twice daily on a tablet. In this case, the drug is combined with other therapeutic methods:

  • diet,
  • using rectal suppositories and creams,
  • rubbing the skin around the wounds with petroleum jelly.

How quickly does the effect of the use of the drug appear

Detralex usually quickly shows a positive result with hemorrhoids – about 2-3 days. In the treatment of varicose veins, the effect becomes noticeable after a slightly longer period of time. You should also remember that the effectiveness of the drug is inversely proportional to the neglect of the disease, that is, in the early stages of the disease there is a greater chance of stopping its development.
